 Krishi Vigyan Kendra is an integral part of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS), which aims the s at assessment, location-specific technology modules in agriculture and allied enterprises, through technology assessment, refinement, cement, and demonstrations. KVKs have been functioning as Knowledge and Resource Centres of agriculture technology supporting initiatives of public, private, and voluntary sectors for improving the agricultural economy of the district  

 The ACABC scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, with NABARD acting as a subsidy channelizing agency. The objectives of the scheme are: 

•  To supplement efforts of public extension 
•  To support agricultural development 
•  To create gainful self-employment opportunities to unemployed agricultural graduates, agricultural diploma holders, intermediate in agriculture and biological science graduates with PG in agri-related courses. 

The scheme aims at augmenting the supply of trained manpower/personnel at all levels for the food processing sector namely entrepreneurs, managers, salespersons, floor workers, etc. The scheme comprises the following four components: 

• (i) Creation of infrastructure facilities for running Degree/ Diploma courses in Food Processing Technology.
• (ii) Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP).
• (iii) Food Processing Training Centre FPTC).
• (iv) Training at recognized institutes such as CFTRI / DFRL/ any other reputed State / National level training institutes of GOI/ State Govt. 

 Agri-Input Dealers in the country are a prime source of farm information to the farming community, besides the supply of inputs and credit. However, majority of these dealers do not have formal agricultural education. In order to build their technical competency in agriculture and to facilitate them to serve the farmers better and to act as para – extension professionals, National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) has launched a self-financed “One-year Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) Program” during the year 2003 with a course fee of Rs.20, 000/- to the input dealers. 

 Tribal welfare programmes were supported under Tribal Sub-Plan to the eligible State Agricultural Universities for implementation of the programmes covering tribal districts in various states. The funding under Tribal Sub Plan is done mainly for, Animal husbandry, Backyard poultry, Dairy development, Fisheries, Integrated farming system, Irrigation, Livelihood, Milk production, Post harvest value addition, Reducing food/ fodder and income insecurity in highland tribal agro pastoralists, Seed production, Vocational training etc. The capacity building programmes on value addition and post harvest management of agri-horticultural crops were initiated, improved agricultural and animal husbandry practices, apiculture, goat breeding etc were supported.
